Tatewaki Kuno is a young man who from the first day he saw Ranma Saotome hated him for being engaged to his "love" Akane Tendo. He is very proud of himself and believes he is the best martial artist (he proclames that he is the "Blue Thunder" of the school he goes to). Because of his strong feeling of being the unbeatable he adressed the student body and declared that Akane could only go out with the boy who will beat her and declared that if Akane beats him she would have the priviledge of going out with him.
However when Ranma, under the form of the "Pigtailed girl", appeared in front of him he falls immidiatly in love with her not understanding that Ranma Boy and Ranma Girl only make one. From then on he is mentally divised for he has to make a decision between loving Akane or Ranma Girl.
